Keeping a Diary in English
Keeping a diary in English is one of the effective ways to improve our English writing ability. It can help us develop the habit of thinking in English. Almost all students don't know what to write in English at the beginning. I had the same experience.
But I just keep writing down everything happened to be in my mind. I will turn to a dictionary if I come across any words that I don't know how to express. The second day, I just do the same. Then I keep on writing every day. Maybe the things I write at first cannot be called an article, or even a sentence. It doesn't matter. I do understand that it needs time to get myself used to thinking in a different way. Time can prove my efforts will not end in vain.

In order to comprehend my molecular optical properties in a theoretically level and complete my paper better, I find a CTsummarize in Chem. Rev. to eich myself. There are more than one hundred pages in this paper, I can only read slowly because of its intricate details. However, I found myself understanding it bit by bit with every word. I realized that there are several hypotheses so far, the TICT (twisted intramaolecular charge-transfer) was agree with my molecular case which has a dual fluorescence in polymorphism. I hope I can make the mechanism clear by further research.
To complete my target today, I study more about CT (charge transfer). When it comes to intramolecular processes, it was always called ICT for short. A CT state can be achieved by an Electron-transfer (ET) reaction or a optical excitation. Many hypotheses were formulated in competitiontry to make clear the mechanism of whether generate a CT state. TICT (twisted intramaolecular charge-transfer) was the most competitive one, I hope I can apply into my data tomorrow.
Crystal is a special solid state with molecular ranging regularity.
Preparation of crystal is very important to understanding the molecular conformation of solid state better and we can analyze the connection between conformation and character. We can get diffraction signal by the X-ray single crystal diffractometer, follow on calculate with software. Normally, it require the sample has a preferable pellucidity and a certain thickness on direction X, Y, Z. I gave assistance to my group members with sorting the high quality crystal to be test, hoping they can get a useful data.
Raman spectra (RS)is a spectroscopy based on inelastic scattering discovered by C. V. Raman. Combination of RS and IR (infrared spectroscopy)was very useful in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, etc. Today, I analyzed my synchronization RS under high pressure. The RS gave us the evidence that the molecule conformation becoming more flat with pressure rising. We could get clear the connection between the character and conformation, which is one of the fundamental question of chemistry.

Small organic molecules crystal can be prepared by various means, volatilization method, diffusion method, sublimation method. Volatilization method was the simplest one, saturated solution of compound became supersaturation with solvent volatilizing. Diffusion method was the common used, two organic solvent with different boiling point in sealed container, the solubility would reduce with low boiling point solvent diffusing into high boiling point solvent. Sublimation method usually was used in strong intermolecular forces compound, with inert gas or negative pressure as driving force, molecular piled up on crystal nucleus. Today I try to prepared crystal by diffusion method, expecting to get a crystal which could give a diffraction signal.
Today I read some literature about charge transfer. In terms of state binding energy, the excited states in organic molecular systems can be mainly divided into two types, the strongly boundLE state and the weakly bound charge-transfer (CT) state.LE, as a common state in organic light-emitting molecules, isa highly efficient radiative state, arising from its large transition moment with a larger orbital overlap. The CT
state, pictorialized as a pair of Coulomb bound holes and electrons, staying on the donor and acceptor parts respectively, shows avery low fluorescent efficiency, due to the forbidden electronictransition from the total spatial separation of orbitals.
Considering my paper and future research content, I felt my lack of photochemistry. Thus, I search some treatises to eich myself, one of them is <Photochemical basis>, written by Rohatgi-Mukherjee,K.K., a female Indian scientist. In this treatises, it tells general fundamentals of photochemistry in a lucid way, make the reader understand easily. Even though it was publish in 1991, the basis of the subject is correct. Another reason for me to choose this book is that the blank of academic book in our country. High-quality academic books are usually edited by foreign or translated from foreign. I thought it shows our academic missing something much or less, maybe we should do academic more down-to-earth, only a personal opinion.

In photoelectric small molecules, there are two general methods to adjust the optical properties of molecules. It is by chemical synthesis, change the molecular structure of compounds, the other is by changing the molecular packing. Obviously, by changing the packing of molecules can save more resources. The polymorphism is one classic way of adjusting the character by changing the packing, through the study of polymorphism model may make second way come to reality.
I read a polymorphism literature use for reference. Mechanochromic organic molecules (MOMs), which change their intrinsic optical properties in response to external stimuli such as mechanical grinding and pressure, have sparked tremendous interest because of their potential for various applications involving sensors, memory devices, and optical displays. A promising strategy to tune the optical properties of MOMs is control of molecular packing, because solid-state optical properties strongly depend on molecular packing arrangements.
Polymorphs are different crystalline modifications of the same chemical substance. When different conformers of the same molecule occur in different crystal forms, the phenomenon is termed conformational polymorphism. Occasionally, morethan one conformer is present in the

Last Wednesday I had dinner with my friends because of Chinese New Year. Even thought I had class on that day, I was excited about the celebration. This was my first year didn’t stay at home with my family actually. I have a lot of friends in NY, but I still felt empty, especially when the date is festival. I really miss my family. The only way I can release my missing was being serious to pass the festival. So I spent a lot of time to prepare Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is the most important festival in China. As far as I ‘m concerned we should take is seriously, then I did.
First, we need prepare something before Chinese New Year. I bought new clothes for Chinese New Year. Why do we need new clothes? We should wearing new clothes when we are celebrating. That meaning is we have a new start in Chinese New Year. Also we believe that it can bring us good lucky during the whole year. As you know, the best color of clothes is red; we need to wear some thing is red. Red, is representing good lucky, happiness, and passion in China. Therefore, you will see many things are red during Chinese New Year, such as spring festival couplets, New Year paintings or lantern. Another important thing is spring clearing. Spring clearing is very old custom. For us, the dust is relate with ‘old’, therefore, cleaning our house and sweeping the dust mean to farewell the ‘old’ and usher in the ‘new’.
Actually, Chinese New Year not just one day; it is cost 15 days. As usual we have celebration lasts for 15 days, but the first three days are important. The first day of Chinese New Year we should stay with our family that it is mean we will be together forever and happiness. Our dinner’s cuisines are including dumplings, chicken, and pork. The funny thing is we will put a coin into one dumpling. If you ate the
dumplings has a coin, you will be lucky for a whole year. As a result, I made a lot of dumplings with my friends. I think that receive a red bag is the most happy thing for us. Otherwise, we can’t say bad word. During the Spring Festival, one must be extremely careful in our acts and words Because Chinese people want to have a good start at the beginning of each year. Therefore there are many taboos during Chinese New Year. Some words should not be spoken and some things should not be done. After the first three days, we will visit our relative and friends. We must bring some gifts for them. It is mean we share happiness. Also the older people will give a red bar to younger people.
Even though it sounds have a lot of troublesome; we still really enjoy it. We believe in Chinese New Year. We believe that if we have a good start for Chinese New Year then we will acquire a lot of happiness. In the end, happy Chinese New Year!
