China"s intellectual property rights(IPR) protection authorities signaledthey were prepared to shoulderheavier tesponsibifities in fightingpiracy as they processed 828,000 patent ap-plications and granted 412,000 new patents in2008, said a state official on April 21, 2009.Both numbers represented nearly 20-percentgrowth are meant to show the country is takingintellectual property violations seriously.
